Parenting Post: A Moment of Confession from 2012

Frankly, I don’t have it all put together. My daughter diligently reminds me that trying to “keep it together” is futile. It’s disturbing and awe-inspiring how someone a little over a foot tall can bring me to my knees, open my heart and make me feel things I have been unknowingly and desperately holding back. So here’s to not holding it back, to not keeping it together. Perhaps after enough times of relentless and brutal baring-it-all my persona will find itself raw and humble out in the world too. So, when I grow up, I want to be like her; my sweet, complex, wonderful, inspirational daughter.
